How the pigeons happened
New York needed pigeons.
Before Affordable Art Fair New York, SAB GALLERY made a suggestion to Lana Nguyen: the city needed pigeons. Not the ones on the sidewalk. Hers. Hand-cut paper, layered resin, and a wardrobe of tiny sweaters, sunglasses and crowns, each bird with a personality you have definitely met before.
Lana made a flock. They landed on our booth wall, and New York lost its mind. Collectors came back with friends. Pigeons went home in tote bags, on the subway, in the back of taxis. By the last day of the fair, nearly the whole flock had found new homes.
Now she's back in the studio making the next one. Tell us what you'd love, and you'll be the first to hear when the new pigeons land.
