“Rupture” emerged from grief and loss, created in the aftermath of death. Built at 18 feet in scale, the work extends beyond containment, becoming a physical act of release rather than resolution. It reflects an understanding of art as verb—something enacted through the body rather than produced as an endpoint. Within the broader HOLD / HELD body of work, “Rupture” functions as the originating condition: the moment where experience exceeds internal capacity and must be externalized through gesture, scale, and material. Dedicated to the memory of Danny Sarner.
