Satin Mmi (My Satin) is a reflection on comfort, attachment, and the quiet confidence that can be found in something deeply personal. This painting tells the story of a young girl and her favourite dress, a satin fabric that becomes more than clothing, but a part of her identity and emotional world. I was inspired by the way certain garments carry memories and emotions. A favourite dress often holds moments of joy, familiarity, and self-expression, especially in childhood and youth. In this piece, the glowing orange satin becomes the heart of the composition, symbolizing warmth, beauty, and the sense of belonging the girl feels within herself when she wears it. Her calm gaze and relaxed posture reveal a quiet intimacy, as though she is fully at ease in her own space. The surrounding natural environment softens the atmosphere of the painting, creating harmony between the figure and nature. The muted greens contrast gently with the richness of the satin, allowing the dress to stand out while still feeling connected to its environment. Through this work, I wanted to capture a simple but meaningful moment, the emotional bond between a girl and something she treasures. Satin Mmi speaks about identity, softness, and the sentimental value attached to everyday things that make us feel seen, beautiful, and at home within ourselves.
