This assemblage references the old Aristocracy. Only the wealthy could afford to dine on silver plates and drink from silver goblets. Using these culinary utensils in excess caused one's skin to turn blue permanently, hence the term the “Blue Bloods,” or “Sangre Azul” which pertains specifically to the Aristocracy in Spain.
