This work explores the delicate balance between natural elements and the forces that disturb their coexistence. At its centre, fluid shades of blue evoke water, organic matter and a self-contained natural world, while surrounding golden forms suggest warmth, vitality and an idealised harmony. This equilibrium is disrupted by traces of crimson. Symbolic of blood, they stain the otherwise harmonious scene, introducing ideas of vulnerability, violence and human interference. Created in mixed media using Asya Alpay’s bespoke resin technique with pigments, the work embraces the unpredictable movement of its materials. Forms merge, separate and expand beyond complete artistic control, mirroring the organic systems they evoke. Through the contrast between beauty and disruption, the work reflects on harmony as something inherently fragile, capable of being altered by even the smallest intrusion.
