This piece was inspired by the story of Skeleton Woman in Women Who Run With the Wolves. In the tale, a man hooks a terrifying skeleton from the sea and, by staying instead of fleeing, discovers that love and life can be restored through patience, honesty, and compassion. We often hide the less-sightly versions of ourselves from others. Sometimes the truth scares people off and other times it brings them closer. There is a certain rest one finds in the company of a loved one who has seen her at her worst and still choses love.
