This work is one from my series which present the material (rubber) as metaphor of natural resources. The same way I weave the strips of rubber into mat forms and knots, natural resources and their value have been woven into many events in history. These events include colonization, international trade, disputes, and wars. This work is specifically about the cost of colonialism and neocolonialism on Africa. The cost of not being invaded and continuing to exist is at the very least indirect foreign control of Africa's riches. The magnitude of the exploitation and bondage is mind boggling. Hence, the continent pays the KINGS' RANSOM.
