Process is integral to my practice. In works such as my From Dawn to Dusk series, individual seascapes are painted independently to represent successive moments in time before being placed together in the studio as a single composition. Multiple layers of gestural paint are then applied across all four canvases simultaneously, physically connecting each painting while reinforcing the uninterrupted rhythm of changing light. Although each work stands alone, together they describe the continuous passage of time and the cyclical nature of the coastal landscape. My paintings are an invitation to pause. In a world increasingly defined by speed and distraction, I hope they offer a moment of quiet reflection—a reminder of the restorative power of the ocean and the universal memories that water so often holds. While deeply rooted in the Australian landscape, the work ultimately speaks to something shared: our desire for places that ground us, calm us, and remain with us long after we have left them.
