F.U.B.U (For Us, By Us) was inspired while listening to Solange’s song “F.U.B.U.,” a celebration of Black identity, culture, and the freedom to create something unapologetically for ourselves. The painting carries that same energy through bold color, raw mark-making, layered text, and an expressive central figure. It reflects the beauty, complexity, confidence, and individuality of Black culture while creating a visual language that feels personal, unfiltered, and entirely our own.
