El Caribe nunca ha sido manso (2026) interprets a historical moment, or several, in which foreigners colonized the region and islands of the Caribbean. It has been known that many of this aggressive conquest were based on religious, cultural and economic interests towards the Arawak communities. With this painting, Nahyr wanted to show an illustration that would contain some of the elements and interpret how it could have looked like during these times of war and crisis, through 1492-1600. The Caribbean has never been gentle.
