¿Onde ‘sta la yola? (2024) depicts the morning of January 1st 2024, when a small boat carrying approximately fifteen undocumented immigrants reached the coast of Aguadilla at Wilderness beach. Surrounded by coast guard officers, local police reinforcements and officials the boat proceeded to land on the shore, while several other individuals jumped into the water. After a few minutes of the incident, as I am paddling through the surfing crowd, I surprisingly notice and pass close to the youngu man portrayed in the painting. The work is based on a real encounter, capturing the brief but striking moment in which the artist and the figure exchanged a glance.
