My creative process begins with expressive mark-making; drawings, writings, and layered textures created using collage materials such as scrap paper, jute twine, sand, and even household items like mesh produce bags. Through acrylics, oils, and mixed media, I seek to translate emotion into form and texture. Painting, for me, is both expression and release. My life’s journey has traversed many worlds; the good, the bad, and the painful and each experience leaves an imprint on the canvas. When I paint, I free myself from those trapped memories; the pain finds its voice, and in that release, I discover joy. Through vibrant colors and abstract storytelling, I strive to transform pain into hope and share that sense of renewal with others. In “Renaissance of a Dream,” I used jute twine to create movement, ribbon textures to symbolize new hope, and embossed stencils to represent rebirth. The butterflies in warm hues of yellow, orange, and pink embody transformation. This painting, like much of my work, reflects freedom, healing, and the quiet power of rediscovering forgotten dreams.
